Remix takes this one to a much classier level. Nice use of the Pineapples sample too.

In flight TOTD here. This is a pretty cool movie organized by one dude but filmed by about 80 dudes in the crowd at a show in Prague with their cellphones, cameras, iPhones etc. Then Radiohead saw the footage and gave them the board mix. So this is edited from a ton of angles and sync'd by hand to the jams in a seamless 2 hour set. Great idea. Tons of high quality footage as if you were on the floor. download it

I chanced upon this record the other day and holy crap I love this song. So chilled out with that bossa beat, drops of Mooginess and nicest vocals about magical ladies and mysterious maidens and whatnot.

This little slice of wiggle stix extravaganza keeps bouncing back into the spotlight. Noticed a bidding war a week or so back on eBay. Folks must be tracking it. This blends nicely into a slow disco set, cumbia being such an infectious rhythm. Crazy moogery all over this joint. Cumbia de Sal

I was attracted by the sleeve on this one and it turns out the music matches that image pretty well. This is fairly laid back music still with bit of prog flavor but tending more toward jazz especially the drumming and flute play. This is the first track on the lp. Ostiaks are apparently an ethnic group in Siberia and Finland. Song Of The Ostiak

D-Pulse remixed a song by this young Russian synthpop group and that More track they did last year was a Dsh Dsh cover. Fun stuff. They did a nice job with this one. Fun video, too . . .

Space Chimney gave me an old Russian record back in NY years ago. Disco / instrumental takes of hits by one of the biggest stars is the former USSR - Alla Pugacheva. Mad record... I finally managed to do something with it. Estrada edit. Thanks A!

Uptempo garagey house here. I can't get over how much this singer sounds like Michael McDonald.

Speaking of the loudest riffs ever... While Metallica was busy mixing thumbtack kick drums and bass-less records, Slayer were kicking their fucking ass.

Still barely believing I saw Sleep last night! It was epic. Huge clouds of smoke rose up from the crowd as the loudest riffs ever slowly erupted into Los Angeles.

Just returned from the performance of the year (decade?). In celebration of his 75th birthday, Terry Riley performed nearly 3 hours of trance inducing jams. First of 3 sets was Terry on grand piano with his son, Gyan, on classical guitar. They played three pieces spanning a little over an hour. The second and most memorable for me was an improvisation on a raga during which Terry sang in the Hindustani style for half an hour. The second set was Terry solo on synthesizers . . . WOW ! So wish I had a recording. The concert was taped, so here's hoping it makes it to the internet. For the final set, Terry was joined by Gyan on guitar plus players on tamboura and tablas. This set lasted 40-45 minutes during which Terry sang for the duration. The performance space was a freeform gallery with wonderful acoustics. 75 and still going strong!

Honestly have no idea why I cringe when I see the word "DFA." This release really shows how moronic that reaction is. Listening to this song in its entirety is like doing 4 shots of tequila in rapid succession or taking one too many hits off the blunt, while dancing around a fire with the stars swirling above. A blissful 14 minutes of solid intoxication.Female vocals that come in around 2:30 and brings out this crazy latin american syncopation style
so rad. $9.99 gets you a vinyl disc and a couple mp3s... not bad .
