Heads Up: Nike Air Max 1 FB “Yeezy” Restock via Sneaker Politics

Sneaker Files - Tue, 2013-05-14 04:56

For those of you who missed out on the Nike Air Max 1 FB “Fresh Mint/Pink Flash” aka “Yeezy”, all hope is not lost; Sneaker Politics, a brick-and-mortar shop out of the N.O., will be restocking these highly sought-after shoes at random times between now and Wednesday at all of their locations. For those of you not in the Lafayette area, fret not; they will be accepting phone orders!

Part of the Nike Air Max “FB” pack, the Air Max 1 FB utilizes the same fresh mint/pink flash motif that several shoes in the FC247 collection also make use of. For those that don’t remember (or simply missed it), the FC247 collection was a futbol-centric (hence the “FB”) pack of performance-driven shoes, each shoe meant to respond best to a specific surface; the shoes of the FC247 collection are, after all, “…designed for fooball anytime, any place”, according to Nikeinc.com. The Air Max 1 FB, with its light-yet-striking colorway, makes for a perfect warm-weather shoe. Whether you’re a “Yeezy”-obsessed fan or just someone in need of a dope pair of kicks for the summer, these shoes are worth a second look.

This release is in-store/phone order only, so don’t count on being able to grab these at their online store. Be sure to follow them on Twitter at @sneakerpolitics for all release info. They’ll be dropping 50 pairs a day, so you should have a shot at grabbing a pair, as long as you stay diligent and are on your A-game. Retail is $110.

Will you be picking up a pair? Saving up for the Jordan Brand restock on May 25th (confirmed as of 5/13: Air Jordan III (3) “88″, Air Jordan IV (4) “Thunder”)? Let us know in the comments!

Red Bull Music Academy New York INABA

Hyperbeast - Tue, 2013-05-14 02:06

INABA, the design firm founded by Jeffrey Inaba, was contracted by the Red Bull Music Academy to take four floors of a vacant New York building in its Chelsea neighborhood and turn it into the ideal learning space. The firm used curved walls to divide and structure the 38,000 square feet of L-shaped space to include areas for performances, private workshops, music production and broadcasting. But it isn't all work at the space as human interaction has been heavily emphasized with the inclusion of more intimate lounges, a living room auditorium, production studio, and a rehearsal room to complement larger gathering areas located on the street and cellar levels. The vibe of these areas, in turn, is all made possible through the special consideration given to lighting as the facility is meant to be used throughout the day. While natural light floods in through the ceiling-height windows during the day, custom neon and diffused LED fixtures illuminate the splashes of color that dot many of the otherwise minimalistically arranged spaces after the sun sets. Stay tuned for more news about the space while those interested in some of the musical work that comes out of it can listen to it via its dedicated website.

Speedy Graphito "NEWWORLDS" Exhibition Recap at Fabien Castanier Gallery

Hyperbeast - Tue, 2013-05-14 01:09

Contemporary artist Speedy Graphito recently opened his second solo exhibition, NEWWORLDS, at the Fabien Castanier Gallery. Presented together with SANDOW, a multi-platform media and design firm, the exhibition NEWWORLDS examines the mutation and perception of the image through the influence of technology and its associated information glut. From the ultra low-res mosaic of the Mona Lisa, it appears that the abstracted presentation and use of pixels will be just one of the features of the exhibition by which the French-born artist (aka Olivier Rizzo) will explore the theme. The exhibition will remain on display throughout May all the way until June 8.

Now that Agassi has once again joined the Nike team, we take a look at his 10 best kicks and hope that we will see a number of them back on shelves soon.

Sneaker Nicknames Explained: “Do the Right Thing,” “Pigeon,” “Dim Sum” and More

Nice Kicks - Mon, 2013-05-13 20:27

Popular nicknames are usually accepted without many knowing where they stem from. In some instances, sneaker nicknames become synonymous with the collaborator. In this installment of Sneaker Nicknames Explained, we discuss one of the most popular sneaker nicknames, as well as one that may be a bit more obscure. Be sure to let us know which sneaker nicknames you would like to know the story behind next week.

Nike Zoom Kobe VI “Draft Day”

Kobe Bryant will go down as one of the best basketball players of all time. However, he almost took his talents to a much smaller market than the lights and glamour of Los Angeles. It’s hard to imagine Kobe in anything but a Laker uniform, but he was actually drafted 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets. That fact is the inspiration behind the nickname and colorway of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI “Draft Day.”
